PoC with Alliander Livelab

The Alliander Livelab department designs and tests innovative grid automation concepts and executes proofs of concept for the asset management department. For their “Next Generation Distribution Automation” setup, they were looking for a way to translate different IEC-61850 implementations on RTU’s of different manufacturers to a generic analytics platform.

The Open Smart Grid Platform was used to connect the devices and do a generic translation; a light-weight application was built to request the data and provide it to the analytics platform. The application also engages the device and platform management capabilities of the Open Smart Grid Platform.
