APIS

The first focus of the Hyphae project is to stabilise and implement a software known as Autonomous Power Interchange System (APIS).

APIS is a software for balancing batteries in a DC microgrid which was originally developed by SonyCSL and then transferred to LF Energy. Article from this announcement in 2021:  Sony CSL launches open-source microgrid project to automate P2P power distribution. It is hoped to extend it’s use to AC microgrids in future.

APIS is implemented in the real world in a group of residences on the campus of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan which are connected via a DC microgrid. This Okinawa deployment is described in this video.
