EM2 Membership Structure

Energy Market Methods Consortium (EM2) has three tiers of members that mirror responsibilities in the market for successful execution of market based pay for performance procurement. The tiers below are aligned with the JDF charter [update link to be PDF] but more detail is provided on the nature of members:

  • Steering Member.  Steering Members may participate in each Working Group and, unless waived per the Membership Agreement, the Steering Committee.
    • ā€‹ā€‹ Members in this category are actively implementing pay for performance programs (or procurements) using one or more of the standard methods covered in a working group in the EM2.
    • Responsibilities: Review and adopt (or reject) methods proposed by the working groups
  • Associate Member.  Associates may participate in each Working Group, but do not participate on the Steering Committee.
    • Members in this category are interested in supporting the development of standardized methods for pay for performance programs (or procurements) covered in a working group in the EM2.
    • Responsibilities: Understand, review, test, recommend updates to existing methods based on empirical evidence and work toward consensus. Vote on working group proposals if consensus cannot be reached.
  • Contributing Member.  Contributors may participate in each Working Group, but do not participate on the Steering Committee and are not eligible to participate in decisions that require a Working Group Supermajority Vote.
    • Members in this category monitor one or more of the standard methods covered in an EM2 working group.
    • Responsibilities: Understand, review, test, recommend updates to existing methods based on empirical evidence and work toward consensus.
