First time joining of Zakariae Bentahar, who works as in intern at RTE-i, and will work with OpenSTEF as well.

  • Alliander team is now called STEF instead of KTP to align with OpenSTEF

  • Many PRs closed and merged, new releases made

  • Next co-coding has half hour at the end of the day

    • Comment from Olivier: half hour is a bit short.

      • We will see how it goes next time and change it if it was too short

Progress at Alliander

  • Cause of bad forecasts in start of January was caused by weather data issues

  • Preparing for ODN congestion season with new rolling window features and experimental setup with different model types + features

Other updates

 

New internship at RTE-i that has started (with Zakariae as intern)

  • Continuation of previous internship

    • Previous internship resulting in OpenSTEF running in Kubernetes Dagster setup with data

  • Long term internship (until Nov 2025) to

    • Evaluate different seasons in current setup

    • Find out what is needed to improve predictions

End goal is to setup a complete forecasting infrastructure to create forecasts for customers

  • Rolling aggregate load features added to OpenSTEF, helps with variable base loads

  • GBlinear model added to OpenSTEF, similar to linear quantile model, but with more regularization and computational improvements with a different training method

  • Lots of minor fixes

Many open issues we need to check, added as action point
